Hot Pink Paper Clips Ring in 2010!

The Hot Pink Paper Clips rang in 2010 at 12 noon (yes, that's right) on January 31 at the Children's Museum of Memphis's New Year's Eve Extravaganza. They led the kiddie parade to the countdown and then rocked out at the dance party immediately following afterwards. They performed for over one hundred kiddies and their parents and even gave a shout out to DELTA GIRLS ROCK CAMP before they began an encore of their show-stopping original tunes! Their band manager is Patrick Glass of the local popular band Noise Choir. Thanks to Tracey Ford of Hutchison School, Angela Horton and Sheri Bancroft of Delta Girls Rock Camp, Children's Museum of Memphis, and of course, the parents of Hot Pink Paper Clips for making this cool rock and roll event happen!

Delta Girls Rock Camp Band Rocks St. Jude Marathon!

Today proved that it's never too early for rock and roll! This morning at 8 am, the Delta Girls Rock Band braved the cold weather and rocked out at the 1st mile marker of the St. Jude Marathon! They were the opening band of the event and played to a crowd of over 15,000 runners, and it was awesome! Their rock and roll set was definitely one of the highlights of the morning as well as a big crowd pleaser. Congrats to band for a job well done!

DELTA GIRLS ROCK CAMP: A HUGE SUCCESS!

Hey Everyone,
The inaugural Delta Girls Rock Camp was a huge success! 40 campers attended, and over 30 volunteers helped make the week the best girls rock camp experience in Memphis yet! Our campers came from all over Memphis as well as from other areas such as Arkansas, Mississippi, Nashville, and even Pennsylvania!

We had nine bands rock out at the Showcase: The Hot Pink Paperclips, Picture Perfect, MJ's Plastic Surgeons, The Narrow Escape, Umbrella Academy, The Flaming Cupcakes, Asian Infatuation, Fauxbia, and WEAREMUSICBANDSAYTHANKYOU. There were enough instruments for all the girls to use, thanks to the generous support of Daisy Rock Girl Guitars, the Hutchison School, the Wishlist Foundation, the help of Guitar Center, and at least fifteen individual loaners! We also had the support of sponsors that resulted in 5 scholarship spots.

The Showcase finale went along amazingly well! Marvin Stockwell of Pezz fame stepped in to emcee, and the showcase was filmed by a three-person camera crew (thanks to Sarah Fleming, Nicki Newburger and Kevin O'Brien). The DVD is currently in the works, and we hope to have a DVD release party sometime in late October or November. We'll keep y'all posted, and all campers will be notified.

For the future, we would like to get a website of our own up, and we would like to continue the involvement of the Rock Club members in assisting with fundraisers, increasing sponsorships, spreading the word on the street, and helping organize next year's Delta Girls Rock Camp, scheduled the last week of July 2010!

Last Day of Rock Camp Blog

This is one of the best camps i have been to this summer. I have learned how to hit the correct notes in singing and have met new people.
Too bad today is the last day of rock camp. I will really miss it here.
I have also met so many people, but I did also see people that I have known for a long time.
And last, I would love to say this camp rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
